After many months of neglecting my blog, I am back. My vendorship (is that a word) at the Charlotte GF Expo has provided me with a serendipidous moment much needed, and I have been thinking about this post since about 10am. You see, the last week in my dietetic internship, I spent time with an RD who was bascially the right hand of a very famous Celiac MD. He spoke today. Isn't it weird to you when you know someone's name, what they do, and if they've had a haircut since the last time you've seen them, but they have absolutely no idea who you are? This happened today. Thus my long over -due post.
Tomorrow, it will have been a week since Easter. My family met in Asheville for Easter weekend and we dined at a little place named Posana. It was lovely. I was wearing a vintage dress. I ordered roasted quail set upon a creamy bed of risotto with truffle sauce. I savored the meal bite by bite and thought how wonderful it is to order absolutely anything off the menu. The "GF menu" is the whole menu! I topped everything off with a GF beer and the most amazing spiced & salted caramel chocolate dome with strawberry gelato and 3 dots of balsamic for dipping. Ok, so we shared the dome and then I caught a glimse of my dad's dessert and couldn't resist.. I cracked my spoon through his creme brulee with fresh blackberries. It was literally like I was in another country. Over wonderful conversation, we had a normal dinner. No additional questions or special requests. And, no worries. Just extraordinary. seasonal. cuisine.
We watched the passers by - a nun rides by on a tricycle. Not unusal in Asheville. I will be back soon.
Enjoy your weekend - many blogs to come.....very much sooner rather than later.
